E?siwvE?]; born 22 September 1984), commonly known as Thiago Silva, is a Brazilian footballer who plays as a central defender for Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain and the Brazilian national team. By 2001, Silva was a professional and competed in the Brazilian Third Division and other regional tournaments with the first team. In a tournament played in Ancona, Italy, Silva was spotted by Bruno Conti, a coach of AS Roma. Conti wanted him to play for Roma, but Silva did not accept the offer. Strong performances in his last season as a defensive midfielder led to Silva’s move to Juventude.
